Arya on online classes during the pandemic: I feel bad for kids who are missing the school vibeThe pandemic has changed everything around us. From wearing a double mask to working from home culture, the new normal has become an integral part of life. One such change is the introduction of online schooling for students. For almost a year now, kids are adapting to the new change. Even though it is highly recommended during the pandemic, parents are concerned about their kids missing the school vibe.
In an exclusive chat with ETimes-TV, TV host Arya, who is the mother of a 9-year-old, shared her concerns and fears over online schooling and much more. Excerpts..
“I feel bad for my kid, who is in 4th standard now. In my class IV, I did my first stage performance. It was the time I was exploring some co-curricular activities. I still cherish the times when my father took both me and my sister to the school on a two-wheeler. That morning rain, school uniform, school atmosphere, everything is still fresh in my memories. I feel bad for all those kids who miss the school vibe. There are many memes trending online where years after people would say ‘This is a school, something like this existed in our times’. I am afraid whether something like that would happen,” Arya shared.
Arya also added that as a parent, she is also keen on keeping her kid engaged during the summer vacation.
“These online classes are hectic for kids. Back to back classes, projects, writing notes from pdf etc. So, I make sure I don’t impose anything on her. It is sad that I can’t take her anywhere during the vacation, but Roya very well understands the situation and she never demands anything. She is happy in her own world of craft and drawings. Thanks to technology, otherwise things would have gone out of hand. OTT platforms are real saviours now,” she said.
However, the actress has a special request to all the parents.
“We all are in huge stress. But, let’s make sure we don’t rub it on our kids. This online schooling is a new phase for both kids as well as parents. Let our kids learn it themselves. Let’s be there and guide but not spoon-feed them,” she added.
