After Giaa Manek, Mohammad Nazim and Vandana Vithlani roped in for the Saath Nibhaana Saathiya prequel; talks on with Rupal PatelIt has been reported that Giaa Manek — the original Gopi Bahu in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya (SNS)— has been roped in to play the protagonist in what is said to be a prequel to the show. We have now learnt that Mohammad Nazim Khilji, who played her husband in the first edition of SNS, has been brought on board, too. Vandana Vithlani, who essayed the role Rashi’s (Rucha Hasabnis) mother Urmi, has also been finalised for the show. The makers are currently in talks with Rupal Patel, who became popular as Kokilaben.
Informed a source associated with the show, “Ved Raj, who is producing the show, was one of the writers of the original edition of SNS. He has worked on an original script but has retained certain elements, including a few members from the original cast. Barring a few actors and some elements, everything is original about the new show. While Giaa, Nazim, and Vandana are on board, we are in the process of finalising the deal with Rupal. Nazim will play Giaa’s husband in the new show. It will be a fairy tale romance on the lines of the story of Cinderella, whose life will change for the better after she meets her Prince Charming.”
When contacted, Nazim said, “I am in talks with the makers, but nothing is confirmed yet.”
Vandana told us, “Yes, I am doing the show. I have been told that my character will have some traits of Urmi from SNS.”
The second season of SNS, which launched in October 2020, featured Rupal, Nazim, Vandana, and Devoleena Bhattacharjee (the new Gopi bahu). Their tracks wrapped up two months after the show hit the tube. The original edition had a successful run of seven years from 2010-2017.
